Jason and I first met in October 1999 when I flew up to New York for a sell day at CIBC World Markets for an investment banking position. He hadn't left the office in three days, slept underneath his desk, and hadn't showered. He looked fantastic! We went out to lunch with a few other CIBC colleagues at Michael Jordan's Steakhouse and I remember him being extremely talkative (which isn't surprising). We met again in August 2000 when I joined the Media Group at CIBC where he was a second year analyst. I tend to recall that Jason was attracted to me first, while he recalls the opposite. (We all know who's right!) We became fast friends and that soon blossomed into a relationship. Our personalities, especially our talkative nature, were a perfect match!

When: October 28, 2005
How It Happened: Jason and I were engaged to be married on October 28, 2005 in New York City. We were driving into the city, when I got a $200 speeding ticket.so the day started off really bad! I was cursing the cops for about an hour and was just really ticked off.
We finally got into the city and spent about five hours walking around, hitting Chinatown, Little Italy, and walking through Soho. I had wanted to go to the Empire State building since I've never been up there yet, and Jason was planning on proposing up there. However once we got there, the line to go to the top was about 90 minutes or we could have paid $70 to go straight up. I didn't feel the need to spend that much money but Jason insisted and I told him not to waste his money. So then he started asking whatever other romantic places we could go. I, of course, was tired from walking and wanted to just go to the restaurant. So we ended going to Aquavit (which was where we had our 6 month anniversary dinner). We had a wonderful meal, and he was planning on asking me after dessert. During dessert, I was getting really tired, sleepy and not feeling well, so he ordered a cappuccino for me to stay awake. He then ordered some champagne and proceeded to ask me to marry him. Before he even finished, I was crying and even when he took out the box and opened it up, I was still crying. I didn't even give him an answer and didn't even look at the ring until he said “I take it that means yes”. So it was a wonderful proposal.
Afterwards, he wanted to go to a bar to celebrate. So we took a cab downtown but couldn't find it, and of course I wanted to go to another bar... but he insisted. We walk into the Bubble Lounge and there was my mom, her friends, and our friends waiting to celebrate the great news! It was an amazing night!
